I love to Google. Ask me a question…if I don’t know it, I will whip out my phone and Google that shit until I get an answer that satisfies. I don’t know how I managed to do anything before the internet.

In my online class, my teacher has us take quizzes in groups using Skype to communicate with each other. None of us study, we’ll read the quiz question, then start Googling the question. We’ll always find the answer, and sometimes, we’ll be lucky enough to find that someone asked the exact same question on Yahoo! Answers and gives the exact same multiple choices as our quiz. I love it!

So when I was stuck for bridal shower gift ideas for my bride-to-be-friend, I Googled.

I didn’t want to do lingerie because it makes me feel uncomfortable picking out people’s sex-clothes. And I didn’t want to buy gag gifts, because we save that for the bachelorette party. So I found this fancy little idea:

All you need is a wine rack–preferable a small one, one that holds 3-4 bottles. A few bottles of vino or champagne, or both! And some festive little tags. You can label the bottles with any occasion for the newly weds, first anniversary, 10th anniversary, first baby, etc. I chose wedding night (Riesling), honeymoon (Merlot), and 1 year anniversary (Champagne).

Thanks Yahoo! Answers for the creative gift idea (and the answers to my exam questions) ;)

Okay, calm down, it’s not my wedding…if you’re a frequent reader, you’d know that I’m my best friend’s Maid-of-Honor for her wedding in March. So far I’ve had it easy as an MOH, my duties have been minimal which makes me feel like a total slacker on my end. Besides stressing over just what the heck to do for my low-key-bride-to-be-friend’s bachelorette party, the only other thing I’ve done so far (as of today) is…BUY MY SHOES!! Of course, the easiest thing to satisfy me, is the only thing I’ve fully completed. I’m such a horrible person.

The bride only had a couple of rules given to me for shoes. 1) NO WHITE, and 2) NO FLATS. Okay, that’s good. Since the wedding is outdoors, my only rule is, stay away from spiked heels and stick with wedges. I didn’t want to spend the evening aerating the grass and sinking into the ground. I think this is a perfect, pretty pair that I can use for the wedding, as well as use in my everyday outfits. :)

So, what do you think?

This update comes because I don’t have much to blog about.

I can’t blog about my Maid-of-honor duties yet for the simple fact that…I haven’t begun my Maid-of-honor duties yet! I’m such a slacker and decided to only throw a bachelorette party and left the bridal shower to the bride’s mom. On top of that, I still haven’t bought my shoes for the wedding, or gotten my dress altered–hemmed, because, well, I don’t have shoes to wear with it. I haven’t written my MOH speech, which by the way, I am totally paranoid about giving (that feeling will go away with 3-10 glasses of cheap champagne), wait–I take that back, I wrote the speech, I just misplaced it, because like the brainiac that I am, I didn’t save it, just printed it out.

Well, would you look at that…I did have something to blog about. :) Since I’m on a roll…

I’m still “training” for the couple of races that I entered, but not making much progress, since I took a week off from doing anything physically active. I have less than a month for the first race, and two months until the second race.

So this post was really supposed to only be about my iPhone turning back in to a little prissy device again after months of it being “naked” without anything but screen protectors on it, but since this turned in to rambling, and that I didn’t think I had anything to blog, I’m going to keep this entry (as random as it is). However, I will leave you with the main reason why I hit “Add New Post” and show you my ultra-hip-cool-girly-girl iPhone case that I ordered from Hong Kong, that apparently, I could have bought at the mall in one of those kiosks and not paid shipping for.

It’s still cute though, riiiiiight?

This week has been super crazy, but I’ve been trying really hard to stay sane and walk around with a smile on my face. So far it’s working, I think I’m fooling most people (including myself) that everything is smooth sailing–which it pretty much is…wow, I really am good at fooling myself. I find that keeping a positive attitude helps out a lot, and opens your mind up so things flow easier. Yeah, anyway…

School started this past Monday. I didn’t go to work that day and instead of having a relaxing day off, I spent it plopped in front of my computer reading loads and loads of information from my three (2 main) classes. I’m talking pages and pages of syllabus (syllabi?) reading, tons of emails back and forth between group members, myself and the instructor (who invented CCs) and how-to information. Three classes doesn’t sound like a lot, and it really isn’t, but my instructor for two of my classes is out of his mind and doesn’t know the meaning of organization. *Sigh*

I began fasting on Wednesday evening, and when things get stressful, I like to hit the weights or run, but I haven’t really done either because I don’t want to pass out in the hot sun with an empty stomach (no matter how much water I’ve drank), or black out lifting heavy. I’m more concerned that it’s embarrassing to black out, than actually blacking out.

So nothing has really been “new” since the year began, disappointing, I know. Oh, but in random news, I’ve been told by yet one more person that I remind them of Penny from the Big Bang Theory. That brings the total up to six. Something about facial expressions and reactions to things? So, for most of you that read my blog and don’t know me in person, if you watch the Big Bang Theory, imagine talking to Penny and there you have it. Hope that doesn’t scare or bother any of you, and if so, don’t imagine it, because I still want you to like me. :)

huh? wait, what?!

Why does it seem that Hawaii is always a few steps behind with the trends? It must take a few months for style to cross the Pacific Ocean, but I’ve been on the hunt for a bold new pair of shorts and pants for months now and finally found the perfect pairs, and the day I do, Nordstrom tweeted that pastels are in. >.<

So while the pastel trend makes its way to my little island, I’ll be sporting my bold new threads that I picked up from Express last weekend.

I debated, tried on, and bought a pair of red jeans, but ended up returning them and wound up with these cobalt (it looks lighter in the picture) jeans. I think I can pull them off better than red. I did find a pair of perfect fitting red shorts and cobalt shorts that I can pull off too.

…I do it (almost) every damn day already.

I figure I won’t fall in to the cliche of making a resolution to workout and get in to shape because, resolutions are soon to be forgotten. Being fit and healthy isn’t my goal, it’s my lifestyle.

Last year I worked out 271 days of the year, some days I worked out as many as three times, some just a measly 30 minutes jumping rope. Either way, I dedicated time to being active. I worked out 74% of the days of 2011, and want to keep that up in 2012.

This is my fitness journal. I’ve been keeping it and logging every workout from March 2010 until today. 125fitblog!

What a night. After months and months of being a home body after hanging up my party girl shoes, I decided to come out of retirement and go out with the girls for New Years’ Eve.

 Aloha 2011…

> The night began with a scare while we were getting ready at a friend’s house. We heard a big crash and immediately thought something crashed in to our cars. We ran out to find a motorcycle crash right outside the lane. Great way to start up the night, huh? I almost thought it was a sign of a horrible night…

> Arrived outside first stop. Heel broke at a manhole cover in my excitement to see one of my friends.

> First, Aloha Tower for the party of the year block party. Super long line, but we somehow skipped it all and squeezed through near the front, got in within five minutes. Let the party begin.

> Fifteen minute firework show commenced, so did the million of pictures and video being taken. This was our opportunity to hit up the bar for a drink since everyone was watching the show and the lines were short.

> Decided to head back to my friend’s house so she could change her shoes.

> Long line for a cab, and all lines were busy when we called a cab. My girlfriend is so nuts that she hailed some random car for a ride. His name was Steve, was single and looking for a girlfriend. He dropped us off and left single without a girlfriend.

> Drove over to The Standard nightclub. $25 cover charge, that’s better than the normal $100 cover charge.

> Saw Ice T and Coco from Ice Loves Coco partying at The Standard in the VIP section.

> Turned in at 3 a.m.–my first late night of the year.

How was everyone’s NYE celebrations?

It’s been tradition here, that, at the end of the year, I wrap up my accomplishments, failures and memories of the year. I’m going to do something different here. Let’s shift our focus on to next year and what to expect in terms of my entries. I don’t know if this will be a preview in to the year to come, or a warning to you, the reader, of my constant bitching and moaning.

       Expect

…a how-to guide on being a Maid of Honor. Actually, I could really use a how-to guide on being a Maid of Honor. March 2012, one of my best friends is getting married and while I was stoked to hear that she’s tying the knot, and more stoked that she asked me to be her MOH, I can’t help but be scared of the work it entails. This is my very first time being in a wedding party. Expect to hear of all my plans for a bachelorette party (this should be good, seeing as I haven’t been in the night scene in months), bridal shower and the dreaded Maid of Honor speech. Where’s the liquor?

…to read about my exciting social life…or lack thereof. Beginning January 9, (I’m calling it D-Day from here on out) I’ll be plowing through classes, more than I’ve ever taken over the course of a year. I’m scared. With working full time, and my attention span not the widest, to take three upper division courses during a semester scares me. And I’m doing that for both semesters. Summer, I’m taking two courses per session, count ‘em, four courses during the summer. So having no social life for the year pertains to me having no time, but also, since I’ve decided to start being more independent, I’ll be paying more for my school, leaving me broke with no money to have a social life, even if I tried. Why the big rush? Well, you’d rush too if you were in college for ten year getting your bachelor’s, right?

…to read about my whining and complaining that I’m stuck on this island until 2013. Since I’m supposed to be concentrating on school in 2012, I’ve banned myself from all travel, including neighbor islands. I’m already about to explode as I hear my Mom making plans for Vegas for next year. Once I graduate, the ban will be lifted and my first plans is to do it big and head to Japan.

…to read about my fitness journey. I’m closing out my private fitness journal and will soon try to incorporate it here. I’ll be held more accountable if I know people see what my goals are. I’m up to workout #267 for the year, and don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon, but step it up in 2012.

…Warrior Dash adventures. Warrior Dash is coming to Hawaii for the first time in March, and I signed myself up…with two guys. Which scares me, because I’m afraid they’re going to leave me in the dust. Training will commence, soon. Hardcore training. =P

Did you know Jillian Michael’s has Podcasts? Me neither. I listened to one on making your personal living space relaxing by clearing up the clutter, getting rid of “negative energy” items (past relationship crap, “fat” pictures of yourself, etc) and replace them with positive energy items. One thing she mentioned was a Vision Board, which is like a bulletin board with motivating pictures, goals, dreams, etc. It got me thinking, and I made a little board of my own (using Apple’s iPhone app Pic-Collage).

Clockwise from top left corner:

1. Travel to New York. Now that Hawaiian Airlines flies direct to NYC, it makes booking and planning a trip so much easier. Another plus side is that I can use my mileage Visa card to help fund my flight or upgrade to first class!

2. Run a marathon. Or a half, 5k, 10k anything. I run the Great Aloha Run, but I want to add another event to that list. And one day, enter in the Na Wahine biathlon (12mi bike +5k  run), once I get my bicycle.

3. GRADUATE! I’m not gonna lie, I’ve been in college since 2003. Of course, I’ve been a part time student that entire time, but had I been on the right track since the beginning, I would be done by now, but instead, I didn’t think to take summer school to speed up the process or check with a counselor which classes I should take (instead of taking the same math class twice and not even need it in the long run). Anyway, I’m on target to graduate during the Spring of 2013. I can’t wait!! It’ll be thee biggest accomplishment of my life.

4. Own my stand up paddle board (and be a pro at paddling it without falling off). Owning the board isn’t the main problem. It is rather pricey, but my main problem is that I need to save money for the surf racks for my car, then decide if I really want to snap on racks to my car. =/

5. Buy a house. I don’t know when this will be, but it’s definitely on my list of things to buy. I know that not everyone is meant to be a homeowner, but I want to give it a try.

6. Be a lean mean iron machine. It’s a working progress. Run faster, learn to do at least one double-under, easily curl 25 lb, and much more. I have a whole list of fitness goals, but I’ll leave that for another post.

What would your Vision Board look like?

This is a follow up to Katy’s 400 Burpee Challenge, offered by none other than the challenger: Katy.

Yes, I did it! Even after working late that evening, I still came home pumped to do this challenge. I changed my clothes, filled up my water jug, cleared out space in my room and got to work. Here’s how it went…it wasn’t pretty:

Planned on all burpees to be pushup to jump up, but sneaked in a bunch of squat thrust with jump up to speed up my time and give my legs a rest. Also, each “lap” equals 100 burpees, read from bottom to top.

–Got under way…first 10 were a breeze, then 20…then I took breaks every ten reps.=/

–At 50 burpees, I removed my shoes because it wasn’t working well with my shag rug.

–At 51 I removed my socks  (slipping on the shag rug), LOL.

–100 reps! Seen Katy’s “Good luck” tweet, debated on tweeting back, but I kept going, no long break….

–…Which is why my second 100 took nearly 20 minutes!!

–My legs felt extremely heavy, which is only partially true because I’m bottom heavy,  but still! >_<

–Wrists hurt, then I start to wonder if I’m doing them correctly.

–Felt like I had no energy…so I stopped the timer and literally chomped on some crackers, and check YouTube if I was doing burpees correctly.

–After a short break: Got back to work, which is why Lap 3 was my fastest.

–Decided to bust out the dumbbells to do my pushups on since my wrists were so sore.

–Also wondered if everyone was doing the same style burpees as I was.

–The weakling in me decided to start my last Lap of burpees with squat thrusts with jump up.

–Then the fighter in me decided to push it hard in the last 30 reps and go back to my full pushup to jump up burpee.

–Also watched the time and pushed faster and harder to beat hitting 60 minutes.

–Pushed even more because I didn’t eat dinner and was really hungry. I planned to eat immediately after.

–My upper body didn’t hurt (at the time, it does now that I’m typing this 24 hours later) but my legs felt like they were about to fall off

–My thighs and ass also felt tight as a rock, no complaints there

Okay, so even though my timer read under an hour, the entire time from start to finish was about an hour and 10 minutes. Like I mentioned, I stopped my timer after the 200th burpee because my legs needed to stretch and rest, I looked up on YouTube an actual burpee to be sure I was doing them right, and also snacked on some crackers. I suck, but I don’t care. I’m happy with myself and proud to say that:

                                                                              I DID IT!
